Pickle, my cat, imitating a statue while we were doing some spring cleaning. I don't know what got her attention, but this clip makes me laugh every time I see it.
Sweet cat.
What are some of your favorite holiday traditions?
Submitted by sami711.
I know some people who like to have a sunbed treament beforehand, but I don't - the kind of places I go don't tend to involve baring too much skin anyway.
I definitely get some new books - even if Im halfway through something before I go, I don't want to take it with me, so I try and polish it off and embark on something new in a new place.
I make sure that I've charged my camera batteries and have enoough memory cards.
I also cancel the milk and leave a cheque for the catsitter.

In no particular order, apart from where they line up in my head, which is probably roughly younger --> older (up to about 10):

- The Winter Bear by Ruth Craft
- Mr Meebles by Jack Kent
- Half Magic & Magic By The Lake by Edward Eager
- Finn Family Moomintroll, Moominsummer Madness, etc by Tove Janssen
- The Saturdays and The Four Storey Mistake by Elizabeth Enright
- Mrs Pepperpot by Alf Prøysen
- The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
- Pippi Longstocking and Pippi in the South Seas by Astrid Lindgren
What song gives you the most holiday cheer?

I think probably the one which a lot of people will mention responding to this question: Holiday, by Madonna.
It's so cheerful and light and playful. How can anyone not be in a holiday mood when they hear it?
When do you start your holiday shopping?
Submitted by Murphy.
Well, I'm probably going to do a bit of research about going to New Zealand early next year, so I'll call the travel agent and start sorting things out next week, I expect. Then I should think I'll start buying things for the holiday - sun lotion, reading matter, hat, that sort of thing - a few weeks before we go. January or so. Why do you ask?
Oh, wait. I see what I've done there.

What's your favorite Thanksgiving dish? What's your favourite Girl Scout cookie?
Don't want to be a curmudgeon, but I'm not American. Blogging isn't American. Not everyone is. Not everyone cares.
Getting a little tired of all the 'merkin questions - though I guess that says more about populus these days than proposition.
Grr.

Autumn in the city isn't so photogenic.
Autumn a short drive away, however, is a different matter entirely...
