QotD: Never Seen It
What's the most famous movie you've never seen?
Submitted by Mike.
I'm a bit of a philistine when it comes to OH-MY-GOD-YOU-MUST-HAVE-SEEN-IT kind of movies. So, in no particular order:
- Raging Bull
- Taxi Driver
- The Godfather (any)
- Apocalypse Now
- Gone With The Wind
- Bambi
- Citizen Kane
- On the Waterfront
- A Clockwork Orange
- And probably loads of others you'll be boggled about. Sorry, I just don't have any interest in seeing them *shrug*
And I didn't see Dirty Dancing or ET until a couple of years ago. Didn't miss much, either.

- Don't, unless you like boxing and/or serious on-screen spousal abuse. Do if you're interested in one helluva De Niro performance.
- Eh... it's pretty much overrated.
- Erm... I'd say do see at least The Godfather, and if you like that, Part II just makes it better. Don't watch Part III. Ever.
- Good but... unless you like war movies, it's a pass. The pinnacle of testosterone macho against-all-odds moviemaking. The documentary about the making of the flick is arguably better than the flick (Heart of Darkness).
- Ditto for me on that. It's like three hours and it's about the south or something and zzzzzz....
- Her mother dies. There's a bunny rabbit called Thumper who's cute. Next!
- Yeah, worth it. So ahead of its time in terms of technique it's like it came from another dimension. Or Orson Welles was an alien.
- You've seen the "Coulda been a contender" speech somewhere, right? That's pretty much it.
- Me either and I doubt I'll make the effort to. I suspect one of those movies that will be a let-down regardless.
Dirty Dancing? Never seen it, don't care to. ET, though? You really need to see that when you're about 10 for it to have an impact - and then, not that much of one in my case....
